Windows Updates (does not apply to Windows 95)

Make sure you have all the latest Critical Updates and Services Pack. A warning about updating drivers though. I've had a modem quit functioning after installing an updated driver. I also had an XP system totally crash after installing updated drivers. I don't do drivers anymore! Choose the Windows Update Link on the Windows Resources page. Then choose Product Updates (Windows 9x) or Scan for updates (Windows 2000 & XP).

Browsers

Update to the latest version of your browser. Having the latest version helps avoid security links and possible viruses. See Windows Resources page for Internet Explorer & Netscape.
